Mesinnya memakai mesin diesel Caterpillar dengan transmisi dari Voith. Sistem pengereman memakai produk Wabtec, master controller memakai produk Woojin dari Korea Selatan, juga dilengkapi dengan genset C15 dari Caterpilar sehingga tidak memerlukan kereta pembangkit jika menarik rangkaian kereta penumpang.Saat ini sudah ada 3 lokomotif CC300 yang dibuat oleh PT INKA dan sedang menjalani test run di pabrik INKA. Direncanakan lokomotif ini akan ditempatkan di beberapa dipo lokomotif yang ada di Jawa Tengah dan Jawa Timur.
